Posted on 26 February 2008 at 00:24

One the four founders of French online journalism web site, Rue89Michel Levy-Provencal left some time ago. Now he says on his blog he wants to sell his shares : he is not happy the way this original project is, according to him, a basic left-sided web site devoted to a small group of friends, were readers have a tiny part.

The fake French "president of Facebook"

Posted on 9 January 2008 at 22:59

After many weeks of buzz in the French medias with a lot of tv shows, a fake French President of Facebook had a lot more of medias from January 1st, 2008, (like this story in the French daily print newspaper Le Figaro) as he said he was elected Dec 31, 2007.

After a first post January 2, 2008 on the French version of this blog, on a journalist's web site (Arret sur Images.net) January 7th, I wrote a long story (with photos, and videos) about him and his hoax in the French medias. I come back on the trail of this young student (28 years old) in the medias during the last two years through his political involvement with some right political party, as a local candidate, so media used to be in touch with him. Then at the French Back to school time, he started again saying he was near to be elected as "worldwide president" (president Facebook monde) able to send emails to 120 millions of Facebook users (a lot more than the real figures... Facebook will be happy when they will reach this 120 millions users limit).

French daily newspaper Liberation on Facebook hoax

Today the French daily newspaper Liberation did a full page in his print edition about it, quoting my story, and the reaction on Arret Sur Images.net forum. Liberation did not accept to report about this vote when contacted by the future Facebook president, contrary to many other French media.
